Fx Video Converter is a conversion utility that can create a variety of MPEG, AVI,
Real Media and Windows Media type files from a
variety of source formats. The free trial version will convert from various AVI, MPEG and Windows Media
formats to AVI, Standard MPEG-1, Real Media and Windows Media output. The full version will
also convert to the additional formats listed below:
- Standard MPEG-2 *
- MPEG-2 with VCD Extensions *
- MPEG-2 with DVD Extensions *
The interface is designed to be as simple to use as possible for the novice but some
knowledge of multimedia technology and an understanding of file formats is
required.
Tips:
- The quality and accuracy of the conversion is completely dependent upon
the original source file and any codec that was used to create it. If the source file is flawed the target file will
also be flawed or the conversion will fail when it encounters the flaw.
- When using compressed source files you must have a read and write version
of all the codecs that were used to create your source movies.
- To playback MPEG-2 files in most standard media players you must have a
special codec that is probably not distributed with the media player.
- You can play MPEG-2 movies in DVD playback software because it has the
required MPEG-2 codecs.
- The speed of conversion depends upon the free resources available and the
efficiency of the codecs that were used to compress the original. Unless you
have a very powerful computer, multi tasking will slow down the conversion and
may degrade the quality.
