Converting to MPEG-1 or MPEG-2

When the MPEG-1/MPEG-2 option is selected the MPEG Type dropdown is enabled.

When MPEG-2 output is selected, attempting to change properties from standard to Custom will generate a warning message. DVD and SVCD must meet specific standard parameters to play in stand alone players and some software. See file types for more.

MPEG-1 (including VCD) doesn't have specific standard requirements for height and width so if you have an odd sized source AVI the only practical format may be MPEG-1. Some quality may be lost.
