Converting to AVI/MPEG-4 When you select the AVI/MP4 file type the default is set to use either the source file's properties or the default settings of the codec that you choose before you encode to the new target file.
Fx Video Converter supports all Windows codecs installed on your system regardless of the quality, dependability, safety or integrity of the codec. If you have hacked, cracked, stolen, or unreliable codecs on your system the results and operation of Fx Video Converter will be unpredictable. Click here to read more about codecs.
The codecs on your computer may vary significantly from those shown below. Keep in mind that the quality and size of your output file is completely determined by the codec so you should choose carefully. Changing the option to Custom Properties will permit you to set a custom size...
It is important to note that some codecs can over-ride your custom settings so you should take note of the codec's interface. Most codecs have their own, individual interfaces which can be accessed with the Configure button.
There is no standard interface so the differences are significant. Some like the Cinepak codec interface provide very few configurable properties others are self explanatory and some, such as the DivX Pro interface shown below are very complicated.
In the example above, the codec can supersede any property values that were set in Fx Video Converter. Most codecs will also raise their own errors during encoding. If the codec raises an error that does not pass instructions back to Fx Video Converter the application may freeze or end encoding prematurely without any explanation. This is a codec issue not an issue within Fx Video Converter. Questions and support requests for codec related issues should be addressed to the codec manufacturer not to J. Hepple, Inc. We have no control over any codecs.
